French Prison Riot Halted

DRAGUIGNAN, France —
About 400 riot policemen armed with tear gas took control of a prison in southern France on Thursday morning after a night of rioting by inmates protesting prison conditions, police said. Prisoners offered no resistance when officers entered and ordered them back to their cells, according to police.
