From Times wire services

A security guard who had been arguing with his wife was arrested early today after the woman and her mother were shot to death and a 15-year-old nephew and sister-in-law wounded during an attack inside the apartment of the Korean emigre family, police said.

Suk Kyung Baek, 30, was booked for investigation of murder and held without bail after he surrendered to police, said Detective Dan Andrews of the Wilshire Division. Police handed over to social service workers the couple’s 2-year-old son, who witnessed the shooting but was unharmed.

Andrews said Baek and his wife, Kwang Kim, had been arguing Thursday night, and she left for her mother’s home, an apartment in the 900 block of South Normandie Avenue. Baek allegedly followed her, and the nephew, unaware of the heated dispute, let him in when he came to the door.

The nephew and his mother, who is Kwang Kim’s sister, were both listed in stable condition at undisclosed area hospitals. Andrews said doctors told him that both shooting victims will survive.
