Berkowitz Increases Nu-Med Stake to 9.9%

A New York investor raised his stake in Nu-Med, an Encino-based operator of hospitals, to 9.9% from 6.2%.
In a filing with the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Howard Berkowitz said he bought an additional 298,000 Nu-Med shares between Aug. 18 and Sept. 22, giving him a total of 874,000 shares.
The latest shares were purchased at prices between $6.28 and $7.18 each, the filing said. Berkowitz has invested a total of $5.8 million in his overall stake.
