Los Angeles Gadfly Jailed

Do Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and the Community Redevelopment Agency officials really have influence on how the courts dispense justice? And if they later determine a jail sentence was too harsh, can they change it? What if they determined the sentence was too light? William Tut Hayes’ sentence or reconsideration for disrupting a CRA meeting is not the issue (Metro, Sept. 26-27).
The dangerous apparent influence of CRA officials on the judicial determinations in this case is compounded by the influence they and Bradley demonstrate now by offering to help alter the sentence providing a police officer attends future meetings. Is this really America? Can they do that?
Does their unaccountable and awesome power have such control of our local judicial system? The CRA calls itself a “can do agency.” There’s an understatement.
