Horse-Keeping Zone Sought in Northridge

A Los Angeles City Council committee on Tuesday asked city planners to draft a proposal that would create a horse-keeping area in southern Northridge.

Councilman Hal Bernson made the proposal several weeks ago, saying that farm animals already are being kept in the area bounded by White Oak and Texahoma avenues, Saticoy and Stagg streets.

The council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to direct the planning department to begin proceedings to establish the district. There was no discussion.

The proposal next must be reviewed by the City Council.
