The National Weather Service posted storm warnings along both coasts of the Baja California peninsula today as Hurricane Raymond, with winds gusting at 93 m.p.h., headed north-northeast in the Pacific.

The storm warnings were extended north of Punta Abreojos, at the tip of the peninsula, to Rosario on the west coast and north of Santa Rosalia to Punta Final on the east coast.

The weather service said Raymond was moving toward the southern end of the peninsula at about 15 m.p.h. and is expected to hit land late today.

Rainfall totals of up to 7 inches were forecast to accompany Raymond, which could produce flash floods and mudslides. Moisture from the storm will be spreading over portions of the Southwest on Thursday and Friday, primarily over Arizona and New Mexico.
