Red Cross officials returned to the Lebanese port of Sidon, a day after two Swiss colleagues were kidnaped by unidentified gunmen, but relief operations will remain suspended until the men are freed. A spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Switzerland said that operations are “still frozen” in the wake of the abduction Friday of orthopedic technicians Emmanuel Christen, 25, and Elio Erriquez, 23, who were bundled into a car by gunmen and driven off in the direction of Ein el Hilwa, a large Palestinian refugee camp. No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapings.
