Borden Plants Targeted for Sale: Borden Inc. will sell 14 dairy plants in 10 Eastern states as part of a restructuring to reduce its work force and concentrate in markets where it has performed well, company officials said. Borden said last month that it would close 65 of its 265 plants worldwide and lay off 7,000 workers--15% of its work force. Spokeswoman Chris Tilton said the company will sell plants in Dayton, Youngstown and New Bremen, all in Ohio; Miami, Pensacola and Tampa, all in Florida; Albany, N.Y.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Detroit; High Point, N.C.; Indianapolis; Lexington, Ky.; Macon, Ga., and Milwaukee. Tilton said the company intends to find buyers who will retain the 2,400 employees affected by the sales.
