French President Francois Mitterrand, beginning a two-day state visit to Venezuela, pledged that his nation will continue to champion the world’s underprivileged nations. The French head of state, who will turn 73 later this month, left a welcoming ceremony in Caracas, apparently suffering from the heat and the long journey, but he reappeared after a few minutes.
