International Paper Co.: The Purchase, N.Y., paper producer said third-quarter profit rose 6.5% to $214 million. Revenue was $2.9 billion, up 20.8% from the same period a year ago. The company credited strong performances by its pulp and paper businesses and recent acquisitions.
