Freighter Sinks Off Oman; 8 of 12 Saved

LONDON —
A merchant ship with a crew of 12 sank in the Arabian Sea off Oman on Wednesday, and a British destroyer rescued eight crew members, the Ministry of Defense said.
The destroyer Manchester also found two bodies and was continuing a search for two missing crew members, a ministry spokesman said.
The merchant ship was believed to be the Al Mawarid, bound from Dubai to Aden with a cargo of timber.
