CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Excessive Force by Police Charged
From Times staff and wire reports
A long line of angry witnesses appeared before the San Francisco Police Commission and charged that police used excessive force during a violent confrontation in the city’s predominantly gay Castro District. More than 50 protesters who sat down in the middle of Castro Street were arrested.
