Chrysler Boosts 1990 Model Prices: Chrysler Corp. said its 1990 cars would cost an average of 5% more than in 1989. It was the same increase as Chrysler’s pre-introduction prices announced earlier and the largest price increase among the Big Three. Earlier, Ford announced a 4.9% increase and General Motors an increase of 3.4%. Chrysler, like GM and Ford, said about half the price increase was due to government requirements for air bags or automatic seat belts for front-seat passengers. Base prices for the No. 3 auto maker’s 1990 cars range from $6,995 for the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon hatchback to $25,495 for the Chrysler Imperial.
