6,000 at Pro-Choice Rally in New Jersey
More than 6,000 people demonstrated at an abortion rights rally Sunday, while several dozen anti-abortion activists carried coffins in a protest nearby.
The pro-choice demonstration in the state capital attracted participants from New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington. No arrests were reported.
“The rally is sending a clear message to politicians that women want control of their bodies and they want choices,” said Eleanor Smeal, president of Feminist Majority and former president of the National Organization for Women.
