The remnants of Hurricane Jerry blew out of Texas and into Louisiana and Arkansas after causing scattered damage estimated at less than $10 million. The storm toppled trees and power lines, tore up roofs and shattered windows. At least three people were killed. Cleanup crews in Galveston, Tex., began collecting downed tree limbs and debris. All but one of the city’s schools were open. About 75,000 Houston Lighting & Power customers were without electricity at the height of the storm but most power had been restored.
