Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) and Central City Assn. board member Dick Schimberg were honored at the 26th annual Downtown Improvement Awards at the Holiday Inn Embarcadero on Tuesday.
The awards are presented annually by the CCA to recognize people, events and projects that have contributed to the revitalization of downtown.
Wilson was given the “Founding Father” award. Schimberg was presented with the Frank Curran Humanitarian award for his public service.
Recipients of the Alonzo award for positive changes downtown include: The Times Artstix ticket booth; the International Newsstand & Coffee House; the James R. Mills Building project and the G Street Mole.
