NATION IN BRIEF : NEW ENGLAND : Group Sues EPA on Waste Site Cleanup

A New England conservation group sued the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, accusing it of failing to ensure that the federal government cleaned up its hazardous waste sites. The Conservation Law Foundation filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Boston for an injunction that would require the EPA to abide by a 1986 Superfund law amendment that ordered it to evaluate hazardous waste sites on federal property and determine by last April 17 which should be in the Superfund cleanup program. The foundation charged the EPA missed the deadlines.
