Glendale College Parking Situation Angers Student

Share

I am a Glendale College student and it infuriates me to discover that the Glendale Civic Auditorium will be expanded and there will be a three-story parking structure that the students will not be allowed to use. This is the most ridiculous statement that I have heard.

First of all, the parking problem for college students is already frustrating. The student who doesn’t start looking for parking 45 minutes before class begins can write off any thoughts of getting to class on time. Second of all, the city expects us, the students, to pay for the $9.5-million project by raising the prices on the already existing parking meters and erecting new meters up and down La Canada and Verdugo boulevards. Finally, the number of police cars and meter maids will be increased in the school’s vicinity, like that is not where the whole Glendale police force already hangs out writing traffic tickets for people who drop off students in front of the school.

From my point of view, students will pay to resolve the parking problem, but why should we have to pay for something we are not going to use?
