Grand Jury Probe
Your news item of Oct. 1 concerning the Los Angeles County grand jury probe of jailhouse informants indicated that the $250,000 allocated for this investigation has been used up after only five months. This news is hardly surprising when the special counsel (a retired judge) in charge of the probe bills the county $350 an hour for his time. And now he wants the county to dish up another taxpayer-funded $250,000 to continue his investigation!
Perhaps it’s time for another probe: the fees paid by the county to attorneys.
