Christopher Bowman of Blue Jay, Calif., came from behind to upset reigning world champion Kurt Browning of Canada and win the men’s title at Skate America in Indianapolis.

Bowman had been third going into the free-skating portion of the competition.

Miai Usova and Alexander of the Soviet Union swept all three events in the ice dancing competition. Americans April Sargent and Russ Witherby were second, followed by Jo-Anne Borlase and Martin Smith of Canada.
