HEALTH : FDA Bars Chinese Mushrooms
The Food and Drug Administration said today it is indefinitely detaining all shipments of mushrooms from China following a rash of food poisonings linked to earlier shipments.
“The agency has concluded that contamination may be widespread throughout the mushroom-processing industry in China,” the FDA said in a statement.
“As a result, FDA will not allow mushrooms canned or brined in any Chinese plant to enter the United States until satisfactory sanitation control measures are implemented in China to prevent the contamination,” the agency said.
