Cummins Engine Co.: The engine manufacturer reported a third-quarter net loss of $39.7 million, compared to a net loss of $17.6 million a year ago, while revenue dipped fractionally to $807.6 million. Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins said engine orders from heavy-duty truck customers, its largest single market, dropped substantially. Also, at Onan Corp., its largest subsidiary, sales of generator sets for marine and recreational vehicle markets were off 30% from a year ago.
