Jury selection began in the trial of Miami police officer William Lozano, accused of killing a black motorcyclist in an incident that sparked three days of racial violence. Lozano faces two manslaughter counts in the Jan. 16 shooting of the motorcyclist, who was being chased by police, and the death of his passenger, who was fatally injured when the motorcycle crashed. A defense request to have the trial moved out of the county was rejected.
