Ropak Corp.: The Fullerton-based packaging manufacturer reported net income of $29,000 for the third quarter, contrasted with net income of $932,000 for the comparable 1988 period. Revenue rose 4%, to $25.4 million from $24.3 million. Ropak’s nine-month net income totaled $904,000, contrasted with $2.4 million a year ago. Revenues for the first nine months of 1989 rose to $73.9 million, 10% higher than the $67.2 million posted for the like period in 1988. William H. Roper, chairman and chief executive, said unit sales volume this year has not kept pace with efficiency and capacity gains, resulting in lower plant utilization. Earnings were also depressed by interest costs associated with investments in capital equipment and facilities. Ropak makes plastic packaging and handling products for foods, coatings and agricultural and industrial materials.
