Home repair expert Bob Vila, who was dropped from the popular PBS series “This Old House” earlier this year because it was thought he was making too many outside appearances, has been signed up by Sears, Roebuck & Co. to host a new syndicated television program. Vila will also be an exclusive spokesman for all Sears home improvements marketing programs, including television commercials, newspaper, magazine and direct mail advertising and in-store videos. The new show, tentatively titled “Home Again With Bob Vila,” will feature remodeling jobs geared to the talents and pocketbook of the average consumer.
