Tandem Computers Inc.: The Cupertino-based computer manufacturer reported net income for fiscal 1989 rose 25% from a year ago to $118.3 million. Revenue rose 24% to $1.6 billion. The 1989 results include figures from its Ungermann-Bass unit. The 1988 figures include Ungermann-Bass from March 18, 1988, the date it was acquired. The company said profit for the fourth quarter rose 31% to $39.4 million, and revenue rose 19% to $456 million, compared to the year-ago period. The firm attributed its performance to growth in business and record sales of its NonStop CLX system.
