IRVINE : Teachers, District to Continue Talks

Share

Despite overwhelming rejection by teachers of the Irvine Unified School District’s latest contract offer, negotiators from both sides decided Thursday to continue discussions among themselves, and not ask for a state mediator.

“We’re not at impasse,” said Barbara Dresel, president of the Irvine Teacher’s Assn. “We’ll begin again Tuesday and continue as needed.”

Teachers voted 608 to 36 against the district’s latest offer during a three-day advisory vote at the city’s 30 schools. Results of that vote were released Thursday.
