The Los Angeles City Council has authorized a $25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the killer of a Canoga Park woman.

Rita Louise Martin, 42, was discovered stabbed to death June 3 in her apartment in the 8700 block of Owensmouth Avenue after several people called police when she failed to appear at a friend’s wedding, authorities said. Police have not established a motive. Officers said that they have found no signs of forced entry and that nothing appeared to be missing from the apartment.

The reward was requested by Councilman Hal Bernson, whose district includes Canoga Park. In addition, family members and friends of the woman have offered a $10,000 reward.

A witness saw a man enter a black mini-pickup parked across the street and drive away shortly after the stabbing, but no link has been established, authorities said. Martin was employed as a licensed vocational nurse at a Van Nuys-area dialysis center.
