HemaCare Profit Drops 38% in Third Quarter

HemaCare Corp. said its third-quarter net income fell 38% from a year earlier, to $126,526 from $204,633. Revenue for the quarter that ended Sept. 30 rose 25% to $1.5 million from $1.2 million a year earlier.

HemaCare, based in Sherman Oaks, attributed some of the decrease in profit to product-shipping problems at its MD Laboratories division, as well as higher costs throughout the company. HemaCare sells blood-related products and services.

For the first nine months of 1989, HemaCare’s profits fell to $333,328 from $359,275, while its nine-month revenue climbed to $4.2 million from $3.3 million.
