Israeli Finance Minister Shimon Peres, 66, left a hospital Monday after a 13-day treatment for a urinary tract infection, a hospital official said.

“He was treated with antibiotics, first intravenously, then orally,” said the deputy hospital director, Dr. Udi Cantor. “He has recovered completely and his general condition is very good.”

Peres, who also serves as vice prime minister and head of the Labor Party, said Monday he will go to the Soviet Union in December on the first visit there by an Israeli minister since Moscow severed diplomatic relations with the Jewish state in 1967.
