From Times staff and wire reports

Contra military leader Enrique Bermudez said he will discuss “the end to totalitarianism” at a proposed meeting with the Nicaraguan Sandinista government at the United Nations. But Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has indicated he wants the talks limited to the demobilization and resettlement of the rebels. The talks--involving Nicaragua, the Contras, Honduras and the International Commission of Support and Verification--were originally scheduled for Monday but were postponed at the request of both Nicaragua and the Contras. A new date has not been set. Ortega on Wednesday canceled a 19-month-old cease-fire with the rebels, citing recent attacks on government troops.
