Players Profits Reach $423,500 for Quarter

Players International said its net income for the second quarter, which ended Sept. 30, increased by nearly 16 times to $423,500 from $26,700 a year ago. Calabasas-based Players said its revenues for the period rose 45% to $4.1 million from $2.8 million a year before.

For the six months that ended Sept. 30, Players said its net income soared to $3.3 million from $78,100 a year before, but the 1989 six months’ figure was inflated by a one-time $3.5 million payment from a contract settlement. The company’s revenues for the period increased 44% to $7.9 million from $5.5 million a year ago.

Players sells memberships to gamblers for discounts at hotels and casinos and sells other gaming-related services.
