Hispanic Coalition Appeals: The National Hispanic Media Coalition is appealing the Federal Communications Commission’s recent decision to renew the license of KCET Channel 28. Last November, the coalition filed a petition to deny KCET’s license renewal on the grounds that the public television station employed fewer minority workers in 1988 than it did in 1983, when its license was last renewed. The coalition said that FCC staff relied on outdated labor force data to reach its September decision to renew KCET’s license.
