TV Stations Slapped: Three private television channels in Caracas, Venezuela, have been ordered off the air for 24 hours by Venezuela’s government for breaking the law by advertising alcohol and cigarettes and showing violence outside permitted hours. The unprecedented decision was taken “because of the repeated violation by the commercial stations of the resolution that concerns the broadcasting of advertisements and films with violent content at unpermitted times,” a Transport and Communications Ministry order said.
