WORLD IN BRIEF : EL SALVADOR : U.S. Conferees OK $85 Million in Aid

House and Senate negotiators approved up to $85 million in military aid for El Salvador’s new rightist government as they wrapped up a compromise $14.4-billion foreign aid bill. The compromise adopted a House-passed $85-million military aid cap rather than the Senate’s $90-million figure, and it included police aid, which was not in the House version.
