Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner has been named “Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” by the California Trial Lawyers Assn.
Reiner, the top prosecutor for the county since 1984, was given the award at the group’s recent annual luncheon in San Francisco.
Reiner’s “integrity and his outstanding record of achievement distinguish him in the crime-fighting community, both in the state of California and in the nation,” said Harvey R. Levine, president of the association.
Expressing his gratitude for the award, Reiner said: “For our criminal justice system to have the confidence of the public, it must be even-handed and tough. I appreciate the state’s trial lawyers for recognizing the necessity of both.”
