16 Hurt in Explosion at Packaging Plant
Sixteen people were slightly injured Wednesday in a small explosion triggered by a reaction between two chemicals at an Atwater packaging plant, officials said.
One of those injured was taken to Glendale Memorial Hospital. The others, complaining of eye and skin irritation, were treated at the scene.
The explosion at the ATC Industries plant at 3030 Fletcher Drive was caused by the combination of ferric nitrate and dipropylene glycol, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Joe Morrow said. There was no fire.
