Everest & Jennings International Ltd., a Camarillo-based wheelchair manufacturer, reported a loss of $2.8 million in the quarter that ended Sept. 30, compared to a profit of $122,000 a year earlier. The company’s revenue rose 6% to $48.7 million from $46 million.

For the first nine months of 1989, Everest & Jennings lost $9.5 million, compared to a profit of $964,000 last year. Nine-month revenue increased 2% to $138 million from $136 million.

Ernest & Jennings attributed the losses to problems in shipping new products, increased borrowing and higher-than-expected tax payments.
