Nigeria Charges 21 Students With Arson in Protests

LAGOS, Nigeria —
The government has charged 21 students with arson in connection with a series of fires set during nationwide student protests in May.
The students had been detained without charge since the protests, which left 43 people dead.
The 21 defendants, who were charged last week, pleaded innocent and were granted bail. They each could face seven years in prison if convicted.
