Tustin schools' educational material on human growth and development and sexually transmitted diseases will be previewed from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Columbus Tustin Middle School at 17952 Beneta Way.
The preview will include material from the infectious disease curriculum approved by the Board of Education in January and previewed by the public in April. No new materials have been added.
The district has adopted the School Health Education Study as the basis for its health education curriculum. The program will deal with human growth and development in grades five through seven and will include instruction in sexually transmitted diseases for grades six and seven.
Teachers in the district elementary and middle schools will discuss how and where the instructional material will be used.
Instruction in these areas of health education is optional and voluntary and will require parent approval for participation.
