Burbank Doctor Loses License in Drug Probe

Share

State medical authorities have revoked a Burbank physician’s license on the grounds that he used the synthetic narcotic Demerol for at least five months in 1986.

The Medical Board of California charged that Dr. Dante Lee Haw used Demerol from February, 1986, through at least June, 1986, “in such a manner as to be dangerous or injurious to himself or others.”

Board spokeswoman Suzanne Taylor, saying her agency’s investigation of Haw was confidential, declined to say if any of Haw’s patients suffered as a result of his alleged drug use or how the case came to light.

Haw could not be reached for comment. Authorities said that his license lapsed in 1986 due to nonpayment of state fees and that he did not respond to the charges leading to the revocation of his license.
