TROUBLED TICKETS: Even as the scandal over Irvine-based Lincoln Savings & Loan seemed ready to claim another victim--embattled thrift regulator M. Danny Wall (D1)--a House committee disclosed that Charles H. Keating Jr., the Arizona financier who controlled Lincoln’s parent firm, bought $750,000 in Phoenix Cardinals football tickets with Lincoln’s funds. . . . This drew a sarcastic comment from Rep. Henry B. Gonzalez (D-Tex.), who led hearings into the Lincoln controversy: “We now add professional football tickets to junk bonds, speculative land deals and luxury hotels as favorites on the Keating list of recommended investments.” A Keating aide called the tickets a “marketing tool.”
