An Appreciation for Helpful Columns

Share

For too long now, my husband and I have been telling each other how much we appreciate (the Joe Bell) columns in the Orange County Times. My conscience prods me to thank you instead of continuing to have such exchanges as, “Wait until you read this one!” or “This is really right on!”

We vibrated to the cross-country trip account, having driven 7,000-plus miles coast to coast in 1988. We cherish fond memories of Aspen summer concerts, Maroon Bell vistas, etc. We struggle with great discouragement when the “Reverend” Sheldon gets continuing media space to flaunt his bigotry.

We attended both days of the Orange County Gay Cultural Pride celebration as members of Orange County PFLAG (Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) and know firsthand of his and the media’s distortion of the positive nature of the total event.

We applaud your lucid, balanced, insightful, well-expressed and helpful columns and thank you for them.
