Another ‘Tallest’ Building OKd: Chicago officials have given preliminary approval for a 125-story building that would be 15 floors higher than and three blocks away from the Sears Tower, currently the world’s tallest building. The endorsement from the city planning commission leaves only a vote by the city council before the project could get under way, the developers said. Developers said the needlelike spire would cost up to $400 million to build and that much of the financing has already been lined up. Some commercial real estate specialists in the city were skeptical that the project would get off the ground given an oversupply of office space in the Chicago area.
