Holiday Treat: Helping Others : BREA : Citywide Christmas Care Drive Planned

The Brea Community Emergency Council is coordinating a program to provide Christmas care packages for the city’s needy people.
The program is expected to provide about 250 food packages, as well as some Christmas presents, to the families, Brea Police Lt. Tom Christian said.
The council is combining the city’s resources for the program. Instead of each organization in the city providing separate care packages, each group--including schools, corporations and service clubs--will contribute money to a fund. About $8,000 to $10,000 is needed to pay for the centralized program, Christian said.
The council is accepting donations for the program, Christian added. Fund-raising is expected to begin next week.
