The city began its annual holiday toy collection this week and will continue through Dec. 22.

The used toys collected will be donated to the Delta Sigma Theta Head Start-State Preschool Program, which for 25 years has provided educational opportunities for children of low-income families in the Westside.

Collection boxes for used toys in good condition are available in the Santa Monica City Hall lobby, 1685 Main St.; the Santa Monica Community Recycling Center, 2411 Delaware Ave., and at the city’s four public libraries, 1643 6th St., 2601 Main St., 2101 Ocean Park Blvd. and 1704 Montana Ave.

Residents with curbside collection of recyclables may set toys donations at the curb on their regular recycling collection days. Toys placed at the curb should be put in a box or clear plastic.
