Columnist Mike Downey flunked his own quiz on United States International University and its basketball program (Dec. 6). So Mike, for all you do, this crash course is for you:

Founded in 1952, USIU, San Diego’s oldest privately supported university, has permanent campuses in San Diego, London, Nairobi and Mexico City.

Students from the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America study in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs in seven professional schools of USIU.

We relish the adversity and fun of playing to win against top competition. That’s what sports are all about. Some fret over our playing style and scoring. Well, that’s what change is all about. Some object when upstart teams (and nations) aspire to greater things. That’s what USIU is all about.
