From Times staff and Wire reports

Two Ku Klux Klan groups have kicked off a campaign to rid Lakeland, Fla., streets of crack cocaine dealers, but the NAACP and police are suspicious. The “Krush Krack Kocaine” initiative calls on klan members to gather information on drug dealers and give it to authorities. The klan groups are focusing on the predominantly black north side, which city officials say is the area suffering most from drugs. Police warned that any law violations would be vigorously pursued. Lakeland’s NAACP leader said he welcomed the klan action unless it is targeting certain ethnic groups.
