Recycling Gives Christmas Trees a Second Chance

Share

Los Angeles sanitation officials have made recycling centers available to city residents who would prefer to have the trees re-used instead of ending up in garbage dumps.

The city’s Bureau of Sanitation will accept trees for recycling at seven locations around the city. The sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Jan. 6, except New Year’s Day.

The trees will be sold to local firms that will convert them into mulch and fertilizer. Only bare trees, clean of tinsel and flocking, will be accepted, officials said.
