Canadian Climber Dies on Colombia Peak

BOGOTA, Colombia —
Canadian mountain climber Pascall Vieau, missing for a week, was found dead on the Nevado del Tolima mountain by the Colombian Red Cross, authorities said Wednesday.
Vieau, 22, died when he fell off the icy slope into an abyss, press reports said.
Vieau had begun the climb with four Colombian mountaineers, but on Dec. 27 he decided to continue alone to the peak, a Red Cross spokesman said. The Canadian’s body was found Tuesday, 12,210 feet above sea level at La Cueva, on the 17,210-foot-high, snowcapped mountain.
